This is my favorite pre-packaged mochi so look for this box, Royal Family Japanese Mochi. I remember it being pretty cheap too.
The assortment has three flavors, red bean, sesame, and peanut. I like every one and they’re all packaged nicely with little colored paper holders.
This is the only pre-packaged mochi that seems to be as soft as fresh mochi. The fillings all taste really fresh too. Even my mom, who grew up on fresh mochi in Taiwan, likes this one a lot!

i love mochi, but can’t have too much of it. 🙂 I love matcha. that’s the best.
btw, have you been back to Beyoglu lately? What did you think of that restaurant?
Kim, I haven’t been there since December but I’m no longer as impressed as I was years ago. I still think it’s a good deal for the price but with so many places to try, I probably won’t be back.
i’ve heard good things about it, especially the hummus. What did you think of it?
MMMMMM,…interesting a aprt looking! I have never tasted any of them but I am on the search for them,…
Hahaha I know them, theey are so goooooood 🙂
Ate this during Chinese New Year days!
Kim, it’s too long ago for me to remember, sorry.
These are the best Mochi ever!
Mike, we just recently saw a bigger box with more flavors. =)
I have been given a box of royal family sesame mochi.
How do you prepare them?
Marcel, you just eat it like that. No prep necessary.
the family sesame mochi is gluten free and lacto free??
Ana Paula, I’m not sure. You should check the ingredient list first but it could be gluten-free (made with rice flour I think) and lacto-free (often Chinese desserts are).
