What’s better than barbecue sauce? Two barbecue sauces! In continuing our Pulled Pork fest, I made two more barbecue sauces. The first is a nice and spicy sauce that features molasses and heat. The second is a super basic sauce, similar to one my mom used to make for chicken.

Spicy BBQ Sauce

Spicy Dark Barbecue Sauce

  • 1 tbsp. Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tbsp. Jalapeno Pepper, minced
  • 3 tbsp. Onion, minced
  • 2 tbsp. Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp. Prepared Horseradish
  • 4 tbsp. Lemon Juice
  • 3 tbsp. Blackstrap Molasses
  • 2 tbsp. Dry Mustard
  • 2 tbsp. Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • Kosher Salt

Instructions

  1. Saute jalapeno and onions with kosher salt in butter and oil until soft. Add horseradish and garlic, continue cooking another minute.
  2. Deglaze with lemon juice, add remaining ingredients. Stir to combine thoroughly, cook about 15 minutes over low heat.

Easy Squeezy Barbecue Sauce

  • 1 Cup Ketchup
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 3 tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp. Garlic Powder
  • 2 tbsp. Onion Powder
  • 2 tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
  • Kosher Salt

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a sauce pot, over low heat. Stir to combine thoroughly, cook for about 10 minutes.
