On Tues, we went to Carol’s election party. The theme was to bring a comfort food so we brought the Maple Pecan Sticky Buns.
Then we thought, it’d be so fun to take a picture of each person with their comfort food. Of course, that means booz.
Representing the chocolates…
Austrian Herring Salad? Actually, it was delicious on potato chips.
Split Pea Soup, healthy but yea, soup is always comforting.
Bread and Cheese. She read my mind.
Rice Krispy Treats. It’s hard to see in the picture, but she made “O” imprints in them.
Squash pie. I’m usually not a fan but this one was wonderfully light and natural tasting.
Grapes? as long as they’re seedless, we can call them comfort food.
Arroz con Leche, a spanish style rice pudding, made without eggs.
Coffee Cake with coffee is always soothing.
Carol also put out a lox spread and for a very Jewish crowd, that is absolutely comfort food. She also made apple bread pudding, samosa/empanadas, and mac & cheese. (Sorry, I’m missing some pics.)
Oh, and last but not least, hot dogs. These were Zabar’s beef frankfurters, which are fabulous.
The winner of the night was when Lon made a hot dogs with mac & cheese. Yum!
Tell us your comfort food.

What a fun party idea! Hmm…I’d have to say my comfort foods are Split Pea Soup, Homemade Apricot Pie, Pastina and Chicken Broth and finally, the ultimate….Polenta with Stew and a healthy sprinkling of Pecorino Romano cheese.
Egg custard “Dan ta” would be my comfort food.
Ellie, it sounds like I should come to you for soups.
Eatingfoodboy, yum, love those too, especially the mini ones at dim sum with the very flaky shells.
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes bring me back to my childhood. And Mexican style chicken soup!
Parmesan Butternut Squash Soup, Macaroni and Cheese (with chunks of chicken), Triple-Berry Scones with clotted cream.
I LOVE RICE-KRISPIES TREATS. What a great party idea this was!

Megan and Wonders, mac & cheese is a popular one and I totally agree!
i could never go to a party like this–i’d have to be rolled out. comfort food for me is lasagna, mashed taters, chili, and fresh-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies. sigh. 🙂
Grace, I know! I actually ate dinner before because the party wasn’t till 8pm and I can’t eat that late. By the end, I was uber stuffed.
