Buying everything in organic versions can be really expensive or just hard to find. I have been hearing for a while now that organic is more important for certain items than others due to the amount of pesticides used and the amount certain produce will retain.

The Environmental Working Group offers a guide showing pesticide load for 43 fruits and vegetables. So, if you can’t afford to buy everything in organic, the idea is to try to buy the top ranking (most contaminated) foods in organic versions to avoid consuming the high amounts of pesticide.

Aside from produce, you can avoid growth hormone and antibiotics by buying organic meat, poultry, dairy, and eggs.
