Manifest Burger Destiny

Friday, September 4, 2009

Any place that makes a mean burger.
Get a super rare beef burger; top it with swiss cheese.  Then layer on top shredded red onion, a thick slice of tomato, and lot of avocado.  Season with lots of salt and pepper.  If they’ve got an onion roll, enjoy on that.

Sometimes a Turkey Club (turkey breast with bacon, lettuce, and tomato) is sufficient, and sometimes it’s not.  Right now, it’s not.  Ask the deli clerk to toast up some whole wheat sliced bread.  After it’s read, slather it with russian dressing and plenty of black pepper.  Meanwhile, get the [...]

Fried Panelle Sandwich

Lidia Bastianich demonstrates fascinating recipes on Lidia’s Italy, her public access show.  On a recent episode, 211, she featured a specialty of Palermo, a city in Sicily, Italy: the Panelle Sandwich.  Jessica and I watched and drooled as Lidia and her nephew went around eating this rustic street food at different stands, wishing we were [...]

Pizza Philadelphia

Italian stallion, where is your nearest pizzeria?
You’ll have to ask your pizzeristo to cook up some thinly shredded beef, throw that on a few slices with provolone and sauteed onions.  That’s right, it’s Philly Cheesesteak pizza!  Eat it slow and and say “wit wit”.
