About FoodMayhem

Jessica & Lon

In a chaotic world of food, FoodMayhem is bringing order.

Written from New York City (mostly), FoodMayhem.com is all about... food! We love food: talking about food, writing about food, looking at food, taking pictures of food, making a blog about food, and, of course, eating food.

Taste of Tokyo

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Taste of Tokyo is what I call the perfect neighborhood spot. It's small, quiet, and clean, and still unknown enough that there was no wait. The portion sizes are HUGE; they have good prices (avg meal inc tax & tip is $25/person) and good food.

I got the Chef's Special:

  • Beef Negimaki - 8 pieces
  • Tempura - 2 shrimp, 1 yam, 1 guard, 1 broccoli
  • Hijiki - a large pile of it
  • 7 pieces of sashimi - you can also choose sushi

Lon got a Salmon Teriayki Bento Box:

  • Salmon Teriyaki
  • California Roll - he said it was good and I'll take his word for it because I don't like CA rolls
  • Tempura - i think same as mine

I think I'm forgetting something in this box.

Both meals included miso soup and salad. The dressing wasn't as good as most Japanese house dressings but both of us enjoyed the meal and will probably go back.
